I was only 13 when I heard of Harry Chapin. It was 1975 when my English teacher played “The Cat’s In The Cradle” in class.
From then on, the song kept reminding me, from time to time, how short and precious life is, that we should never take things for granted and to savour every moment we have with our love ones. I lost my dad when I was 17 and we never really spent a lot of time together when he was alive.
I now have 2 boys of my own, and once in a while I hum that song that I heard a long time ago and feel I’ve been given a second chance to experience what I’d missed, through my children’s eyes.
Thanks Harry.
