Harry used to say,”…when in doubt, DO SOMETHING!”
His music reached me at an early age, and as I progressed in the world of music, I found myself drawn more and more into his songs. I had the good fortune to see him in concert 11 – 12 times ( and rarely missed a TV appearance ).
I saw Harry use his music to draw people close so that, having their attention, he could enlighten them them as to what they could contribute to the world around them – showing them ” what one man’s life could be worth “.
Two years after Harry died, I dropped out of the music world, only recently reentering it and, once again, performing many of his songs. There are still many of us out there who perform his works, but we need to emulate his deeds and use his music the way that he would – to make people in this ( and other ) country realize that while the difference they might make may be small, it is still a difference!
I am rededicating my “musical life” to that ideal – that is why I am writing this story, because while Harry is gone and we can’t change that, his life’s work is not yet finished and we can change that.
His dream is alive and kicking -but it needs each and every one of us on an individual basis to keep it going.
If you are a fan of Harry’s and our paths cross ( I’m not the only one out there singin’ ) please take a minute to introduce yourself, share your favorite remembrances about Harry ( I’ve got more than I’m sure they’d let me put in here )and share a song or two.
Maybe, if we put our heads together, we could all join in to make this world “… a Better Place To Be…”
