I remember seeing Harry Chapin in Terre Haute, Indiana.

I had been to every concert that I could get to throughout the Midwest. He was donating on concert proceeds to his hunger cause. I remember after a two and a half hour concert, he and Steve were standing out in the lobby greeting the fans and collecting donations.

Harry was selling kisses. I dug down in my purse and I have 4 quarters left. I handed them to Harry and he gave me a quick peck on the lips. I wish I could’ve given more. I could’ve said to him “Harry ,keep the change”.

Almost 20 years have passed, but he has inspired me to send money to feed the hungry every month.

I play his music, and I have also introduced my students at Greencastle Middle School to Harry Chapin. They love his music, and the story about Mrs. Fenoglio kissing Harry for $1.00.

I will always love and miss him.
